For nine consecutive years NJ SSI has received $1.2 million in funding as a line item in the Grants-In-Aid Section of the Treasury Budget in the Appropriations Bill. The item, Statewide Systemic Initiative to Reform Mathematics and Science Education, is on page A-35 of the proposed FY 2009 Budget.

Without this funding, NJ SSI will be unable to continue its work to support services to New Jersey educators in the critical areas of mathematics, science and technology curricula - key contributors to our students staying competitive in today's global economy. The impact of this loss is potentially devastating not only to their, but all of our futures and must not be allowed.

Please restore funding to NJ SSI.
